Iftar @ Marco Polo Hotel Dubai

The time of spiritual reflection, sacrifice and empathy, Ramadan is upon us once again.  Our Muslim friends fast from dawn to dusk breaking their abstinence with Iftar when the sun has set for the day at Maghrib prayer time and next meal is the Suhoor , eaten before dawn when the fast starts again. The faithful and pious are in for quite a difficult time this year as Ramadan falls during summer time with very long days.  But the sacrifice is welcomed by all and borne with pride, a true reflection of the beauty of their faith.

In the true spirit of the season, Marco Polo Hotel offers an  authentic Iftar experience for that truly memorable meal. Menu covers all Arabic favorites starting with very plump dates and fruits to the main meal of the most tender Lamb Ouzzi dripping with juicy goodness. Pair this off with freshly made Roti (bread) at the Tandoor station and ending with richly flavored Shawarma and you’re all set for the night. But what is Iftar without the delicious refreshments to compliment. On the counter is traditional lassi, sweet Rose milk , Karkade (Hibiscus tea) and Kamaruddin (Apricot ) juice , cool and very flavorful drinks popular in the region for that truly Arabic flair.

Ramadan is the perfect time to learn more about the UAE’s heritage and culture, and attending an iftar is one of the greatest ways to immerse yourself in its traditions.
Come together with friends, family and colleagues to feast on Arabic /Indian delights and celebrate the traditions of Ramadan in elegant surroundings.

Iftar and Suhoor @ Marco Polo Hotel

The season of prayer , fasting and reflection is upon us once again. Covering the entire city with a quiet and pensive atmosphere, the month of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic Lunar calendar is considered one of the five pillars of Islam.

The Arabic word for fasting is “sawm” which literally means  “to refrain”. Refrain from food, drink and evil acts and thoughts. It is a time to purify the soul, refocus attention to God by way of self sacrifice and prayer. It is also a season to strengthen ties with family and friends and this is most expressed during the breaking of the fast , Iftar and Suhoor.

Iftar occurs after sunset (Maghrib) while Suhoor is the meal before sunrise.  These meal times have become quite famous with families gathering together and breaking fast together. It has become such an important family affair that now many hotels and restaurants offer Iftar and Suhoor.

Here at the Marco Polo, one can enjoy a lavish Iftar buffet featuring a fusion of Indian Sub Continent and Middle Eastern cuisine presented in a  spread of sumptuous selections of traditional mezze and an array of Indian specialties complete with a roster of live cooking stations including all time favorites, Chaat, Tawa and Jalebi .
